1. Introduction
MangalUtsav ("we", "us" or "our") operates an online directory that helps customers discover and contact event professionals across India. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By using MangalUtsav, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the platform. This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account and keep you signed in
- Publish and maintain vendor listings, packages and galleries
- Pass your enquiry to the vendor you chose to contact
- Send transactional emails — account verification, password resets, enquiry notifications and listing status updates
- Review vendor registrations before approving them, and verify businesses
- Display ratings and reviews on listings
- Respond to messages you send us through the contact form
- Detect, prevent and investigate spam, fraud, abuse and security incidents
- Understand how the site is used so we can improve it
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms & Conditions
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade contact lists to advertisers.
4. How We Share Your Information
a. With vendors you contact
This is the most important thing to understand about how MangalUtsav works. When you submit an enquiry, reveal a phone number or start a WhatsApp chat with a vendor, we share the details you entered — including your name, phone number and email — with that vendor so they can respond to you. Once shared, that vendor handles your information under their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
b. With service providers
We share limited information with the providers that make the platform run — our web hosting provider, our email delivery service, and Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google). These providers may only process your information to provide their service to us.
c. Publicly
Vendor listing details and published reviews (including the reviewer's display name and rating) are visible to all visitors.
d. For legal reasons
We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or property, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of our users or the public.
e. Business transfers
If MangalUtsav is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
5. Cookies & Tracking
We use only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. Nothing we store is used to profile you or to follow you across other websites.
These are the only cookies we set, all of them from our own domain:
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
mangalutsav-session |
Identifies your browsing session so you stay signed in and see your own messages and form data. |
2 hours |
XSRF-TOKEN |
A security token that prevents other websites from submitting forms on your behalf (cross-site request forgery). |
2 hours |
remember_web_… |
Keeps you signed in between visits. Set only if you tick "Remember me" when logging in. |
400 days |
Related information stored on our servers
The session cookie itself holds only a random identifier. The session record it points to is stored on our server and includes your IP address, your browser's user-agent string and, once you log in, your user ID. These records are cleared as sessions expire.
We also store a small flag in your browser's local storage to remember that you dismissed our cookie notice, so it isn't shown on every page. It contains no personal information.
Third-party services
We don't embed advertising or analytics scripts, but some page assets load from other providers, which means those providers receive your IP address and browser type as part of the request. They do not set cookies on our site:
- Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.com) — typefaces used across the site
- jsDelivr (
cdn.jsdelivr.net) — the Bootstrap stylesheet, scripts and icon font
- Avatar and image services — placeholder profile images and stock photography
Separately, if you choose to sign in with Google you are redirected to Google's own website, where Google sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. That happens only if you click the Google Sign-In button.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Because all of our cookies are essential, blocking them will prevent you from logging in, submitting enquiries or using the contact form — the site will not work correctly without them.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or to meet a legal obligation.
- Account details — until you ask us to delete your account
- Vendor listings — until the listing is removed by you or by us
- Enquiries — retained in the vendor's dashboard so they have a record of their leads; note that a vendor may keep their own copy after we delete ours
- Contact form messages — retained while we deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Passwords are stored using a one-way hash and are never readable by us or our staff. Access to the admin panel is restricted, and uploads are validated before being stored.
That said, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you share information with us at your own risk. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date — most of it you can edit yourself from your dashboard
- Delete your account and associated personal information
- Withdraw consent where our processing is based on your consent
- Complain to the relevant data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@mangalutsav.in. We may need to verify your identity before we act on your request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Please note: deleting your account does not automatically delete information already shared with vendors you contacted. You will need to approach those vendors directly.
9. Children's Privacy
MangalUtsav is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-Party Links & Vendor Websites
Our listings may link to vendor websites, social media profiles and other third-party sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit from ours.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will make a more prominent announcement. Your continued use of MangalUtsav after an update means you accept the revised policy.
